NEW CENTRAL LIBRARY

Another landmark, The New Central Library (NCL), is under construction that will be part of the Calgary Public Library system when completed in 2018. The five-story structure is being built in the Downtown East Village neighborhood and will include 240,000 square feet (22,000 m2) of space.

1600 tonnes have been fabricated for the project including 5 multi-story trusses that are comprised of heavy, specialty ordered plate that only a couple of mills world-wide can produce.
