2020 will be a year to remember on many fronts. From the depths of a Covid-19 shutdown to a resurgence in the Fall months to emerge as one of the busiest years in our 60-year history. Supermétal excelled on many fronts, including achieving schedule with enhanced safety protocols on sites and 0 LTIR's for a second year at our Sherbrooke fabrication facility. Below are a sample of projects that Supermétal worked on across Canada and the USA in the past challenging year.

Riverbend 5 Multi-Storey Warehouse | Ledcor Construction | Burnaby, BC
Canada's First 2 level warehouse is now 30% complete. The innovative project requires 11,000 MT of steel fabricated from our 3 shops in Canada and is being delivered by truck, sea, and rail. To unload our steel arriving in seacan’s, we have developed a patented mechanized container unloading platform that enables economical transportation via rail.
400 West Georgia, Deloitte Summit | Westbank / EllisDon | Vancouver BC
The stacked cube design is nearing completion in downtown Vancouver. With our Valued partners Westbank and EllisDon, the project has been a great success! The building will be the Western head office for Delloitte which will provide outdoor spaces and green living walls. 5000 MT was installed in this complex tower requiring multi-level trusses, adjustable shoring towers, and an intricate crane tie-back system.
Royal Aviation Museum | PCL | Winnipeg, MB
After years of design assistance and budget consultation, the new Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is taking flight in Winnipeg!
Supermétal recently completed fabricating and erecting the 700 tonnes for the 85,000 sq ft structure. This project features 160 ft joists spanning the exhibit space, diagonal conical columns as an entrance showpiece, and architecturally exposed interior columns supporting the mezzanine area.
CIBC Square Overbuild | EllisDon | Toronto, ON
We are also working on the Rail Overbuild at CIBC Square for Hines/EllisDon in Downtown Toronto, near Union Station. This future 1.5 acre park, adjoins the 2-tower development, by spanning over 10 tracks. Due to active passenger train traffic, our hours are between Midnight and 5am providing a very condensed and highly coordinated evening schedule. Starting construction later in 2021, Supermetal has been mandated for preconstruction activities on the new 50-storey, 141 Bay tower.
Medicago Headquarters and Vaccine Facility | EBC | Quebec City, QC,
Medicago is on the front lines of researching for a treatment of the COVID-19 virus. The new vaccine production facility will be developed on a 90,000m² site in Quebec City. It will span 44,000m² and comprise Medicago’s headquarters, a research and development (R&D) centre, a 9,000m² greenhouse and vaccine production facilities. The 2700 tonne structural steel supply and install contract is with EBC.

Innovations
Supermetal has been recently flexing our innovative muscles over the past few years, here’s a sample of what have we been up to:
Installation of complete hotel room modules for the Alt hotel in Calgary.
The Upbrella construction method in Montreal were we built 5 new stories on an existing Le Germain hotel building without the use of a tower crane.
In Burnaby at the Riverbend 5 Warehouse project we are implementing our patented mechanized container unloading system for steel delivered in seacans.
